634 West 42nd Street

The North side of this block of West 42nd Street features 18 shotgun cottages built in 1901.  All were built identical to one another, but as you can see every single one has been altered at some point in the past.  Shotgun houses like these are a rare typology in Savannah.  Nearly half the houses on this block are currently vacant. HSF has saved three of these homes this year.  All three will be restored to their original design. In keeping with our affordable housing initiative, HSF will be placing covenants on each property to keep them affordable.
