At Historic Savannah Foundation we would not be able to fulfill our advocacy, education and outreach mission without the support of our dedicated and hardworking volunteers. Opportunities to get involved include program support, community clean up, office assistance, working with students in our Hands on History Camp, or volunteering for one of our many Special Events. April 7: Volunteers needed for Newsletter Assembly
Historic Savannah Foundation – 321 East York Street
Historic Savannah Foundation issues a quarterly Newsletter to its membership support base sharing information, recent organization activities, upcoming programs & events, and other HSF news. On Friday, April 7th, HSF needs 4 Volunteers to assist in folding and sealing Newsletters for distribution.
- Folding, adding inserts and sealing Newsletters
- Packing Bulk Mail trays

May 5 -13: Volunteer for the Savannah Preservation Festival
The National Trust for Historic Preservation designates May of each year as “Preservation Month”. Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF) has embraced May by hosting an educational festival that demonstrates what makes Savannah unique. We are celebrating our 6th Annual Savannah Preservation Festival May 5th, 7th, 12th & 13th.

May 5th – Wine tasting and Home Tour: 5PM
Various residences along Jones Street
Patrons will tour some of Savannah’s finest private homes and sample fine wines paired with gourmet appetizers. This is a self-guided walking tour down one of Savannah’s most beautiful streets.
Volunteer needs are:
- Wine tasting Launch Site greeters and check-in assistants
- Wine tasting Tour Site head host, wine pourers and food servers, house docents
- Assistance with event setup and breakdown.
May 7th – Louise Lauretti Lecture Series: 5PM
The Louise Lauretti Lecture Series focuses on leading women in history and historic preservation throughout the country and, particularly in Savannah. A Reception will immediately follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public.
Volunteers are needed to: Assist with event set-up & break down; Greet Patrons and serve as Host; distribute beverages to patrons.
May 12th – Preservation Awards Luncheon: 10:30AM
Savannah Golf Club | 1661 East President Street
Each year, HSF celebrates the best of preservation by presenting Preservation Awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrates outstanding excellence in historic preservation. The award winners will be announced at the HSF Preservation Awards Luncheon.
Volunteer are needed to: Assist with event set-up & break down; Greet & Usher patrons to their seats.
May 13th – Block Party: 8:30AM
Guerry Lumber Yard | 123 West 44th Street
Join us as we celebrate Guerry Lumber’s 90th anniversary through demonstrations and workshops highlighting the art of preservation. This festive and family-friendly event will consist of: Educational Exhibits; Craftsmen Exhibits; Student Exhibits; Bike Valet; Food & Drink & Live Music.
Volunteer needs are: Assist with event set-up & break down; information assistants; beverage & food station; bar station assistants (current City of Savannah bar card required).
