Architectural Review
HSF’s Architectural Review Committee reviews and comments on the monthly petitions to Savannah’s Historic District Board of Review (HDBR), as well as other projects that relate to or have an effect on historic structures or areas.
We encourage all members and interested parties to attend HDBR meetings and comment on petitions. It is important that your voices are heard and that you stand up for the quality of what is built in our Historic District and our city. See below for a calendar of HDBR metting dates. In cases where you cannot attend but would still like your comments to be considered, you can email them to the Historic Preservation staff at the MPC at wards@thempc.org.

Easement Alteration Review
HSF also reviews and alterations that are proposed to a property on which HSF holds an Easement or Protective Covenant. For a searchable document of properties on which HSF holds either an easement or a protective covenant click here: Easements and Protective Covenants held by HSF.
To request changes or alterations on a property which HSF holds an Easement or Protective Covenant, click here: Request for Alterations to Easement & Covenant Properties. This form should be filled out and returned to HSF before any work is done. We work to provide all applicants with a timely response. Clear descriptions and accurate drawings also help to expedite this process.
All work performed on a property on which HSF holds an easement or covenant must be carried out to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. For more information please click here or contact our office for a copy of those Standards. As well, we recommend that you (or your contactor) read the applicable Preservation Briefs, also provided by the National Park Service, click here.
Routine maintenance, i.e. work that will not result in any change of appearance to the exterior of the property does not require HSF’s consent.
