New Trustees Elected

February 7th, 2017

At HSF’s 61st Annual Meeting, held last November, the membership elected officers and new trustees, each of whom was selected for his or her diverse talents and leadership roles in the community. HSF’s Board of Trustees establishes the organization’s strategic plan, directs special initiatives, and attracts the necessary resources to achieve those goals.

The following were re-elected to officer roles: Jeffrey S. Eley of Savannah College of Art and Design as Chair; Brian Felder of Felder & Associates, LLC as Vice Chair; Sarah Lamar of HunterMaclean Attorneys as Secretary; Susan Clifford of Hancock Askew & Co., LLP as Treasurer; and Gregori S. Anderson of Chatham County Building Safety and Regulatory Services as Parliamentarian.

In addition to the elected officers, HSF also announced four new trustees: Hon. Thomas C. Bordeaux, Jr., a local judge and former Savannah City Council member; Colonel George W. Bowen, USAF, Ret.; Amy Brock, owner of Amy Brock Marketing, LLC; and Emily Dickinson, vice president and director of marketing and human resources at Wet Willie’s Management Corp.

Bordeaux, Bowen, Brock and Dickinson will serve three-year terms expiring in 2019. read more…

2016 Hands on History Camp

June 28th, 2016

DSCN2126HSF is proud to announce that we welcomed 30 students to participate in this year’s Hands on History Camp (HOH Camp).  These budding preservationists spent a week with us (May 30- June 3) in a camp which included a variety of field trips and hands-on activities. The program was made possible by the sponsorship of JE Dunn Construction; the City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs’ Weave – A – Dream; and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.  HSF is grateful for their support—which underwrote the program for each of the 30 campers.

During the week, campers visited historic sites ranging from the Massie School in downtown to the Tybee Island Light Station. We kicked off the camp with “Family Day on Memorial Day” which included the parents and siblings of campers.  We led a tour of the monuments in Emmet Park and along the entire Bull Street corridor before enjoying a Memorial Day picnic with nearly 40 people in Forsyth Park.  Several of the parents commented how much they wish they could join the HOH Camp for the rest of the week. read more…
